The " Martin and Gerda Essl Privatstiftung " in 2008 makes sufficient
financial means available which are assessed and are used during the
subsequent years for the assignment of the Essl Social Prize.
In the future third parties shall possess the chance of supporting the
awarded social projects of the foundation as well as the support and
education of Social Entrepreneurs through contributions.
The founder Martin Essl as well as the entities of the Martin and Gerda Essl Private Foundation guarantee an appropriated investment in social projects
both local and international due to their social and merchant-based
competences.
The nomination of support-worthy projects can only be resolved by the
Essl Social Prize-Nomination Committee.
Essl Social Prize - Nomination Committee
The Essl Social Prize Nomination Committee is composed of the following persons and organizations:
- the founders Martin and Gerda Essl (for life),
- all former winners of the Essl Social Prize
- selected universities and institutions.
Nomination process of the Essl Social Prize
The Essl Social Prize Nomination Committee is instructed to nominate out- standing and efficient social projects by social entrepreneurs.
To be nominated social projects by social entrepreneurs have to fulfil the following stringent criteria:
- high quality standard for social projects
- a focus on relief in need
- assurance that the greater part of the funds will be used for the social
project itself (with spending on administration being kept as low as
possible)
The nominations will be submitted to the Essl Social Prize Selection Committee.
The final decision regarding the projects to be nominated lies with the executive board of the “Martin and Gerda Essl Social Prize Charitable Private Foundation”, who will comply with the proposals of the Essl Social Prize Nomination Committee.
To avoid any kind of intervention, information about nominees, persons nominating and the entire process will be treated as confidental for a period of 50 years.
