The selection of the Essl Social Prize-winners:
The prize-winner(s) of the Essl Social Prize will be chosen by the executive board of the “Martin and Gerda Essl Social Prize Charitable Private Foundation” based upon the nominations (and free from any political or other intervention) after the Essl Social Prize Selection Committee has been heard.
The executive board of the “Martin and Gerda Essl Social Prize Charitable Private Foundation” has to accept the proposal of the Essl Social Prize Selection Committee.
Up to three winners can be awarded the prize every year; the total prize money they will receive is 1 million euro.
Selection Committee
The Essl Social Prize-Selection Committee is composed of:
The founders Martin and Gerda Essl, or after they have passed away, the spokesperson of the family advisory board, as chairman as well as the most recent winners of the Essl Social Prize, but no more than a maximum of six people.
