Zero Project

The Zero Project goal is to create "a world without barriers”. It is an initiative of the Essl Foundation and run in partnership with the World Future Council and the European Foundation Centre.

Through vigorous research, the Zero Project finds and promotes, through reports and conferences, Innovative Practices and Innovative Policies that are achieving tangible benefits for people with disabilities around the globe.

The research is based on an annually changing theme from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) (2012/13: employment; 2013/14: accessibility; 2014/15: independent living and political participation; 2015/16: education and information and communications technology). They also research social indicators, that identify how effectively the CRPD is being implemented. The findings, published annually in February in the Zero Project Report and in the Zero Project Conference is accessible to a broad public.
