One week after the annual award ceremony of the Essl Social Prize the
nomination phase for the following year will start again (applications are sent to the selection committee).
The timeframe for the nominations is six months.
By the end of the year, the selection committee will present a recommendation for the winner of the Essl Social Prize in the following year.
The Essl Social Prize will be awarded to the prize winner(s) by Martin and
Gerda Essl, or after they have passed away, by the spokesperson of the family advisory board, acting as chairperson of the executive board of the “Martin and Gerda Essl Social Prize Charitable Private Foundation”; the solemn ceremony will take place at Klosterneuburg during the week before Holy Week in the presence of a person internationally recognised for his or her social achievements.
A total amount of 1 million euro will be handed over on this occasion. The funds have to be to used for the support and continuation of the prize-winning projects. Prize-winners will be entered in the Foundation records. They will also be given a certificate as well as an Essl Social Prize figurine.
